When a single factory worker finds herself wanting to have a child with her secret lover, who is married, he isn't very happy about the idea. Instead, she befriends a young girl who has been kicked out of her parents' home and is looking for somewhere to live. She takes in this teenaged girl and eventually sees that one doesn't have to give birth to a child to become attached to it.
