In the Swiss Jura, in 1917, Jean, a young watchmaker, and Anna, a young bourgeoisie woman, fall in love. They go through everything together, and marry. John believes in the future, hoping to succeed in inventing a waterproof watch, but Anna suddenly falls ill, suffering a mental disorder with her behavior becoming increasingly dangerous.
