Medea is a film written and directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini, that was produced based on the plot of Euripides' Medea. Also in the film is opera singer Maria Callas, but her role in this case does not include any singing. The film is composed of two halves, with the first half covering the travel of Jason and the Argonauts to Medea's medieval land. To process their ritual, a young man is offered as sacrifice and his blood spilled over the crops. Medea later proceeds to kill her own sons and sets their house on fire.
