A sequel to the romantic comedy/drama 400 Blows. Antoine Doinel is discharged from the Army for being unfit. He heads out to find the woman he loves, Christine Darbon. After arriving while Christine is away, Antoine looks for work. Christine soon comes home. Antoine struggles to hold down a job, going through a number of jobs. He and Christine also struggle to hold on the their relationship.
