The film is set in the time of the Crusades in Jerusalem.Commander Godfrey of Bouillon, Christian blessed by the pope, has attacked the Holy City for years with no win. His mission is to free the Holy Sepulchre of Christ from the hands of the Muslim infidels. Godfrey's best soldier is Tancredi and turns out that he is a girl, called Clorinda. The two fall in love while war rages.
