Watch The Monk

The Monk, based off the 1796 novel of the same title by Matthew Lewis, follows a man named Ambrosio, who was abandoned on the steps of a monastery in the seventeenth century. Ambrosio, raised by the friars in the monastery, becomes a model friar who is admired and respected due to his extreme virtue and moving sermons. However, Ambrosio's world and virtue will be tested as he invites the man in the mask, Valerio, into the monastery to become a friar. Valerio turns out to be the greatest challenge to the virtue Ambrosio holds most, and he will lead Ambrosio to dive deep into his past and origins as he battles temptation and sin.

The Monk offers the viewer a unique look into the struggles of humanity, and what will ultimately bring a faithful and righteous man to fall from grace.
