Dai Davies is a Welshman who is running an almost bankrupt farm in Wales, he also is raising his granddaughter named Gwen who is an orphan, Nerys is Dai Davies wife who also helps out. Dai Davies unexpectedly dies one day and leaves Gwen under the guardianship of his son Alan who is back in Wales with his stepson Cliff. The twist of the story happens when Alan and land developer Howard are not on good terms. As Alan and Gwen prepare Mabon for a race that could save the farm from debts, Howard tries everything possible to try and sabotage their plans in order to see the land sold off.
