An aging American school teacher at a Catholic school has never married, but she has an intriguing pen pal who just happens to be a handsome gentleman living across the ocean in Ireland. After years of writing, she decides to go over and meet her man in person, only to find out he is a Catholic priest, a detail he never revealed to her through their exchange of letters. Both their lives are thrown into turmoil, and a powerful Catholic Bishop also has something to say about the whole situation.
