While working on a science project together, Brighton does his best to keep from agreeing to take an unpopular classmate to the upcoming seventh grade school dance. Yet, after being warned by Fran that Brooke might back out on their project and leave him with a bad grade, he finally asks her to be his date. But, when Brighton's friends learn of his plans and he vehemently denies asking her, Fran criticizes him for hurting Brooke's feelings. However, when Fran discovers that their cab driver is none other than Jeffrey Needleman, an unpopular high school classmate she once humiliated, Brighton turns the tables and force her into agreeing to date the cabby. Despite trying everything she can to avoid it, Fran heads off to meet Jeffrey for dinner on Saturday as C.C. does her best to convince Maxwell to read a play written by her psychiatrist. However, when she turns down Jeffrey's sudden proposal of marriage, Fran must then try to talk him out of jumping from the restaurant's window ledge.
